San-Etsu Hamono VG10 Petty

Description

Seki City is located in Gifu prefecture ,north of Nagoya.This area has been a center of KATANA sword production since the 13th century ,but is now better know for its production of stainless type knives, high-quality pocket knives, scissors, and nail clippers. The handle on this knife is beautifully constructed with magnolia wood handle and a white spacer. The combination of the handle and clean look on the blade is a great pairing. The blade geometry leans middle weight. It is constructed out of VG10 steel which is a stainless steel that is highly resistant to corrosion (rust) and good edge retention (depending on the forging process). My first Japanese knife was made out of VG10 and it's still heavily in use, so I have no complaints. The finish on the knife is clean, with vertical brushing and a smooth kasumi finish closer to the edge.
